Boebert’s son arrested on child exploitation charges as her anti-‘sexualization’ rhetoric looms

Tyler Boebert, 21, was taken into custody by the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant and booked on multiple charges related to sexual exploitation of a child. Court documents list three counts of sexual exploitation — described in filings as involving enticing or inducing, intent, and video evidence — plus two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities say the alleged conduct began on January 1, 2024, when Tyler was 19. Bond was set at $10,000; records show he posted bond and was released the same day. The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.

This isn’t the first time Tyler has faced criminal allegations. In February he was charged with misdemeanor child abuse without injury after an incident where his two-year-old son allegedly wandered away from a home. Earlier the same year he was arrested by the Rifle Police Department in connection with vehicle trespass and property theft; he later faced a trial on a separate 22-count indictment that included multiple felony and numerous misdemeanor charges.

Rep. Lauren Boebert issued a short statement to TMZ saying, “I love my son. We take these allegations very seriously and pray for everyone affected during this challenging time.” Separately, Boebert has repeatedly spoken out against what she describes as the sexualization of children and criticized certain forms of LGBTQ+ visibility, remarks that have drawn public attention and controversy in recent years.
