ACON Hunter Moves to Islington — Here's the New Address
The regional HIV and LGBTQ+ health service has relocated to Fern Street, and if you need them, you need to know where they are.

ACON Hunter's moved house — 33 Fern Street, Islington, if you're looking for them.
The regional HIV and LGBTQ+ health service announced the relocation on 22 September 2026. The new address is 33 Fern Street, Islington NSW 2296, on Awabakal Country. The phone number stays the same: 02 4962 7700.
ACON Hunter covers a vast footprint — the Hunter, New England, Central Coast and Central West — and for people in those regions who rely on the service for HIV support, sexual health, mental health or alcohol and drug support, knowing where the door is matters. Regional services don't have the density of the inner city. You can't just walk past and drop in.
The announcement itself is brief. It doesn't say when the move happened, whether opening hours have changed, or what services are available at the new site. It doesn't explain why they moved, whether the new space is bigger, or if there's parking. For someone who's never been, or who last visited the old location years ago, that's the information that turns an address into a place you can actually get to.
ACON's website lists the service's work: HIV prevention and support, sexual health, mental health and suicide prevention, alcohol and other drugs, cancer support, ageing, palliative care. That's a lot of life held in one building, and a lot of reasons someone might need to find it.
The new location is still in the Newcastle area, still on Awabakal Country. But if you're coming from the Central Coast, or driving in from the New England, or trying to work out the bus route, you need more than a street name. You need to know it's real, that it's open, that someone will answer when you knock.
33 Fern Street, Islington. Write it down if you need it.
