Laneway Festival has confirmed its 2027 dates, marking a significant shift as Sydney opens the tour for the first time. Scheduled for February 12 at Centennial Park, the festival will then move to Brisbane Showgrounds on February 13, and return to its traditional Melbourne venue at Flemington Park on February 19, before concluding in Auckland on February 21.
This year’s scaled-back footprint excludes Adelaide and Perth, a move that organizers say is aimed at enhancing the festival experience. As they noted, managing multiple locations in a short timeframe was becoming increasingly complex. It seems the festival wants to ensure it can focus on delivering a high-quality lineup rather than just filling slots with big names.
Laneway's ethos has always been about cultivating emerging talent, with co-founder Danny Rogers emphasizing the festival’s role in shaping music culture rather than simply following trends. With the first artist announcement expected in late September, fans will be eagerly awaiting who will join this year’s lineup.
While the loss of Adelaide and Perth is disappointing for many, the promise of returning in the future holds a glimmer of hope. As the festival heads into its 21st year, it’s clear Laneway is committed to refining its identity and experience, ensuring that each stop is memorable. Keep your eyes peeled for updates as the date draws nearer!
