Brighton and Hove Pride takes over the seafront this weekend, with big-name performances on the programme. Expect crowds, colour and late-night energy.

But the forecast has other plans. Meteorological services have issued warnings of high UV and hot conditions across the region. Some indices for sun and air are being described as at least 'unhealthy' for prolonged exposure.

That means basic kit matters. Sunscreen. A hat. Shade where you can find it. Water. A phone battery that lasts so you can call for help if you need it.

Long spells in direct sun raise the chance of sunburn, dizziness and dehydration. If you start feeling faint, confused or unusually hot, move somewhere cool and seek medical help or speak to event stewards.

Pride is for showing up and shining. Do it with common sense. Protect yourself, watch your friends, and have a proper good time.
