the canals of amsterdam have always been a runway on parade days. on World Pride they felt electric.

one boat carried a giant 'Gaywatch' banner and a crew that clearly intended to be seen. music pulsed. people danced. cheers rolled along the quay.

it was spectacle in motion. sequins. signposts. booming speakers. strangers hugged. phones lifted like tiny lighthouses.

for a lot of folks, it was simply joyful visibility — loud and unashamed. for others, it was another layer of the parade’s pageantry. both are part of how Pride shows up now.
